Deafinitions & Interpreting

Deafinitions & Interpreting (D&I) was founded in 2003 by Pamela D’Occhio, NIC to bridge the communication gap between the Deaf and hearing worlds through experienced professionals who practice ethical decision making, maintain confidentiality, and put into practice our industry’s Code of Professional Conduct on every assignment. In 2025, D&I was acquired by Communication Access Partners, which does business as D&I, serving the state of Delaware along with other areas of the mid-Atlantic.

Deaf Access

Deaf Access, Inc was founded in Huntsville, AL in 1995 by Frances Smallwood who served as a nationally certified interpreter since 1981. In 2025, Deaf Access was acquired and became a proud part of the Communication Access Partners family. Today, CAP has grown Deaf Access’ capabilities by expanding geographically to include a larger service footprint, along with including spoken language interpreting and document translation services in over 100 languages.

Verbatim Language Services

Verbatim Language Services, Inc of Waynesville, NC was founded by Alice and Gene Rainone in 2004 after having spent 15 years in South America. Since its founding, Verbatim Language Services experienced steady growth and expanded into several states across the US. Verbatim became a reliable partner for organizations looking for spoken language and ASL interpreting, along with document translation services. Verbatim Language Services was acquired and became a part of the Communication Access Partners family in December of 2025.
